These are both self-extracting programs so once one has downloaded just double click on it to install it.

You might also want to check out this free software. "Shorts"  It's for helping to share your CDs with Mac and Unix computers if you are using long filenames.

The sample data is an optional download.  You do not need it to run Thumbs.  It is here to give you something to work with if you do not have your own images or if you want to see a typical setup.  It is the same as the high-bandwidth sample here on this website.  (PRESS ESC TO EXIT THE SLIDESHOW)
