Sushi Wave

Sushi Wave has the best sushi I've had in O.C.  There is often a 20 minute wait.   It's funny because the place is full of Americans instead of Japanese natives even though there are lots of Japanese natives in the area.  At least most of the employees are Japanese natives.  What makes it so good?  The fish is fresh!

Directions: From the 405 south take the 73 to the 55 south and then exit the 55 and drive down Newport Ave long the side of the freeway.  Sushi Wave is on the right in a strip mall several lights down.  If you make it to NikeTown and Triangle Square you've gone 1 or 2 lights too far.

The reality of Sushi Wave

I worked at Sushi wave for a summer.. The guy who owns the place JJ puts on such a show by being such a 'joking' 'cool' guy...but only in English... If only the customers can understand what he is saying about them in Japanese!!  You name it... Fat, Ugly, "stupid americans", "Give them whatever, their taste buds can't tell", etc. He was an outright jerk to the employees as well, saying how "the employees in the back were dumb mexicans etc."  Due to his rude actions, many good sushi chefs have left... and therefore,....

The sushi is alright... It's not that good... That's why us Japanese people don't go there... we would rather pay more to eat better quality sushi...

how sad

That's really sad.

I used to be better than most other places in that area.  My Japanese friend introduced me to as she used to work there.  Maybe it changed
