In Japan and I guess throughout lots of Asia there's a fish called Tai (red snapper) that is considered very high class fish. In particular it's often served at weddings.

Well, I don't know if this is true, but according to a classmate it original became a *wedding* fish because Tai fish actually have mating partners and if one of them dies the other will stay in the same spot until he/she also dies.

If anybody can confirm or deny this it would be cool to know.
